Title: Hr.Ms/Zr.Ms Jss (karel doorman)

MitcheLL300 - November 5, 2009 07:26 PM (GMT)
Im almost 100% sure that the ship will be named after karel doorman.
So i just put it in the topic and the shipname.
Or do you guy's think i should name it just Hr ms jss?

There is 50% chance that Prins willem alexander will be King willen alexander when the ship go to service.
So the ship can also be called Zr.Ms.
Ok from that up to the WIP.
Im doing the front and side view of the ship.
Im currently this far:

I hope this will be my best drawing ever done.
Im far from finishing, and alot of detail's has to be added.
Got any tip's or something else?
Just tell ;)
Also on the back there is some kind of door thing.
Anybody got more details on it?

Mitch ;)

well shipmate, I'm really looking forward for your drawing.

I got one request for you.
The screw.
Can you help me whit that one?
I can't find a similar to the drawing in the request section.
Neither in the shipbucket equipment section.
And are you drawing her aswell?

Mitch ;)
*edit* updated pic in 1st post.
And alot of this is scratchbuild.
Ive only taken some simple basic things like the rubber boat, chinook's,large landing craft, and the boat's for when the ship is sinking.
And all surroundings to fit them in the hull are scratchbuild by me.
I will also scratch build the fuel line stuff and crane.
And the big crane.
And i will possible remake the goalkeeper if that is allowed.
Since it look's kinda wrong to me.

Mitch ;)

vossiej - November 6, 2009 08:33 AM (GMT)
It's about the side-view, what has the front view to do with it?

Mitch, the base of the MFR tower should be slanted, not straight. It's very clear on both the 3D and the linedrawings.

The ship will have some kind of sternramp with can be lowerd in to the water ant a landingcraft can there by take over the material.

as you can see in these early designs:

@mitchel : i was wrong with the number on the bow it has to be A833 instead of A836 that is the HNLMS Amsterdam.

May I ask why an LPD has a phased array mast or am I just seeing things?

Philbob - November 7, 2009 05:01 AM (GMT)
phased array mast are becoming more standard. i think that thing is called the I-mast as it intergrats all the comm antenna's and senors in one place

San Antonio LPDs have SPS-48E, which gives them better air search capability than anything before 1980. Not quite a phased array, but it's becoming pretty typical for high-value assets to have superb electronics, regardless of whether or not their weapons can use them. NTDS is probably responsible for some of this electronics growth.

the San Antonio also still has a traditional oscillating unit it is just kept under cover by the Advanced mast enclosed system

LPD-17 is also a canidant for back fitting a SPY-3/4 DBR, but im not sure the class as fitted now has the electrical generation capability to support it

Great job and great ship.
I need just a little explanation about her name : IMO, the sex of sovereign (king or queen) doesn't impact the name of the ship. I mean it is always HMS cause the H stands for her and Majesty is always feminine. No ?

ALVAMA - November 7, 2009 09:26 AM (GMT)
Looks indeed great

How does the shaft/prob looks like then?

You sould not add shade under the foward coalkeeper ;)

Harer= female
Zijner=male
majesteit (stands behind zijner/harer)
When willem will be king, every ship will be changed from hr ms to zr ms.
So that is in the near future.

The area's where all the boats are stored on the side (LCVP, RHIB etc) has to be darker becouse of the shadow.

Otherwise, great job!

I wouldn't make it as dark as the lower hull. If anything, upper hull dark, with a double line of shadow of lower hull dark underneath the upper edges.

vossiej - November 9, 2009 06:01 AM (GMT)
Shouldn't those lines that surround the boats be black? Instead of gray, wich is mostly used for a bent surface.

MC Spoilt B'stard - December 20, 2009 05:13 PM (GMT)
Friday, December 18 contract was signed between Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding and DMO for the JSS. On that occasion, the Secretary of Defence also announced the name: Karel Doorman.

So what we already knew for 2 year is true the name'' Karel Doorman'' with the bow number : A833

MC Spoilt B'stard - February 9, 2010 06:12 PM (GMT)
i see some other things :
i think you better use the stern ramp i send you in the beginning (was more detailed)
the .50 cals you used should be hitrole's (same as on the OPV)
